Nestled in the rolling hills of Northeastern Rensselaer County, New York, lies the town of Hoosick and within its center is the peaceful village of Hoosick Falls. Currently home to 3600 residents, Hoosick Falls has a rich history dating back to the mid 1700's when it was first settled and later became known for the nearby site of the "Battle of Bennington" during the Revolutionary War in 1777. The town was officially incorporated in 1827.
Some of the area's most beautiful scenic landscapes can be found here among the rolling hills and around the areas two rivers; the Walloomsac and the Hoosic. Hiking, canoeing, and picnicking are favorite pastimes and just a short drive to many area ski resorts and campgrounds.
The village has some wonderful resources for families including a community park complex that includes a swimming pool, enclosed playground, tennis courts, basketball court, baseball field, and a community center that serves as an ice skating rink in the Winter. Just above the park is a 9-hole par four public golf course. A thriving youth soccer program is located just south of the village in Hoosick as well as little league and softball fields. The Community Center on Church Street serves young and old with a variety of after school and summer programs along with a number of arts and crafts classes for adults too.
The village has a
library, a historical museum, and the nearby Barnett Homestead in North Hoosick- site of the Battle of Bennington. The village has a part time mayor and village board. Several volunteer fire departments and a full-time police force keep us all safe.
